Almost half of Russian children are, in effect, spending all their waking hours online, according to a survey conducted in 1200 households by the IT security firm ESET. The interviewees (parents and siblings) were asked how much time schoolchildren in their family are spending online during school year.

Most schoolchildren seem to hardly go offline at all: 44% indicated children in their family are online 24/7, using their smartphones during school hours and desktop PCs and laptops after school.

33% of schoolchildren are keeping (or at least trying to keep) school and Internet use in balance by only logging on from home, once their homework is done.

Just 4% of interviewees answered «never».
